When has Spring sprung?
The Basic Idea
Talk a walk into the natural world and collect sounds, colours, nouns and movements. You could split children up into group sand provide them with a foci each to help focus them. When back in the classroom, split the classroom in to the four categories and ask the children to help populate it. Model how to create a poem by stating a noun, adding 3 adjectives, a smile etc.
How to take it even further or make it more challenging
Ask the children to create a poem about an aspect of nature, without using the noun, i.e. infer and suggest using similes and metaphors.
